New Epping Medical breaks ground in the north’s new health epicentre

Thursday March 26, ground was officially broken at the site of New Epping Medical, a new healthcare facility in Melbourne’s north.

The $100 million development will bring specialist consulting, allied health and diagnostic services into one place, directly connected to Ramsay Health Care’s Northern Private Hospital and alongside the public Northern Hospital Epping. The development will change how healthcare is accessed throughout Melbourne’s north.

The milestone brought together project partners, government and local stakeholders, reflecting the continued build-out of a health precinct designed around connection.

“Melbourne’s northern growth corridor is one of Australia’s fastest-growing, placing increasing pressure on the local healthcare system,” said David Lee, Development Director at Riverlee.

“The New Epping Health Hub and buildings like New Epping Medical have been designed to alleviate this mounting pressure and bring much-needed medical services to the region.”

“For us, this project is more than just the start of something new. It’s a continuation of a long-standing relationship within a precinct we know well, working with people we trust and respect,” said Richard Frisina, Managing Director at Kane Constructions.

“We’ve been involved in the broader Northern Health precinct for over 25 years, and we’re proud to be building on that experience as this next stage takes shape.”

The precinct is being shaped as a mixed-use destination anchored by health, wellbeing and essential services, with the New Epping Health Hub playing a central role in supporting the day-to-day needs of the growing community. With the focus on specialist healthcare, a number of high profile providers have signed on as anchor tenants. Icon Cancer Centre will provide comprehensive cancer treatment in the new facility, while Lumus Imaging will strengthen both diagnostic and imaging capabilities across the north.

This is a significant step in the New Epping masterplan vision with New Epping Medical set to provide state-of-the-art healthcare in Melbourne’s growing north.
